This year’s Homecoming game turned out amazing! The Titans won against the Woodhaven Warriors by a large margin, that being 41-21. Ironically enough Southgate beat Woodhaven for their Homecoming game last year, now this year Southgate beat Woodhaven for our own Homecoming game!
In the bleachers the Titan spirit was all around, the band was playing their hearts out, every single touchdown you could hear loud cheering from the student section and loud music from the band, playing the fight song to touchdowns, or hearing section leader Isabella Fraley start off Seven Nation Army after a good play.
Quarterback Jackson Sage made so many outstanding plays, appearing on the scoreboard with nearly every touchdown. Sage said “Everyone played good, and we played our best game.”. In the first quarter, the Titans scored two touchdowns, only halfway in, absolutely cooking Woodhaven. Wide receiver Melody Ballinger said “This was one of our best games we played so far, the team really gave it 110% and I’m so grateful for being on court and having this experience.”.
During halftime, the Homecoming court winners were announced. The winners were twins Jackson and Brooklyn Sage. Jackson is the star quarterback, and Brooklyn is a cheerleader. The siblings were surrounded by support after winning, from all the other nominees, and Titans. Jackson said “It was very cool and it was very special to be able to win king.” in regards to winning, and Brooklyn said “I was so grateful to have been crowned Homecoming queen! I felt like I was in a fairy tail and it was such a magical night. I am so thankful for everyone who supported me along the way.” The twins were surrounded by the other nominees, who were all very happy for them.
Shortly after the Homecoming announcement, the third quarter started up, and the Titans went straight back to dominating the game. With the amazing teamwork and effort of the Titans, they won the game. The crowds roared with cheering, and it was a night to remember for all who went.
